The Peaceable Kingdom
Saturday | May 16 | 7:00pm
On May 16th, we gather around a vision of a world where every voice, every creature, every force finds its place in harmony. At its center stands Randall Thompson’s The Peaceable Kingdom, a riveting a cappella work sparked by Edward Hicks’s iconic paintings — a work that doesn’t shy away from turmoil, but charges straight through it. The music wrestles with warning and upheaval before opening into a startling image of coexistence, a glimpse of what it might mean for all creation to stand together without fear.
The surrounding works deepen this journey: music that burns with elemental energy, grieves with reverence, and rises with the steady determination of people who believe peace is possible even when the world feels anything but. Together, they trace a path through struggle toward a renewed sense of hope and possibility.
Join us for a spring concert that walks through the storm, stands in the fire, and emerges into a vision where we all coexist — a musical exploration of courage, resilience, and the hope of peace that refuses to fade.
